Resolutions from last year - worth noting again

Can't sleep so I will post my resolutions. Also, there have been complaints about the lack of gardening blogs lately (just kidding).
I have already broken one resolution, bought two Heucheras and a fringe tree. I was smitten.

  • I will not cram plants too close to each other
  • I will wait until plants have broken dormancy before stuffing more plants on top of them
  • I will be patient when playing ‘dead or dormant’. I will keep a log of when plants wake up
  • I will cut back sedums, eupotorium, veronica, geranium, mums early enough so they do not flop. Donut shaped plants are not pretty
  • I will not delude myself into thinking that sunny areas of the yard magically turn shady during the day. Which really means, curb my desire to buy more Heucheras until I have a proper spot for them.
  • I will label all tubers/bareroots when storing them
  • I will not do containers, they never look good
  • I will plant Dahlias deep enough and stake them at planting time. They will be planted at the side of the house in a cutting garden.
  • I will not grow vegetables next year.
  • I will start seeds early enough and I will label the seed containers
  • I will not buy peat pellets, no matter how tempting
  • I will keep cutting Persicaria ‘Red Dragon’ ruthlessly
  • I will shovel prune plants I do not like
  • I will never plant scarlet salvia again
  • I will pull all scarlet salvia seedlings as soon as they appear (okay, most of them)
